Piercing Aftercare Guide
Thank you for getting pierced at Lenozella. Follow these simple steps to help your new ear or nose piercing heal comfortably. Your piercer will also go over aftercare with you at your appointment.
How Long Healing Takes
| Piercing | Typical healing time |
|---|---|
| Ear lobe | 6–8 weeks |
| Cartilage (helix, flat, tragus, conch) | 6–12 months |
| Nose (nostril) | 4–6 months |
A piercing can look healed on the outside before it's fully healed inside. Everyone heals differently, so check with us before you change your jewelry.
Daily Cleaning
- Wash your hands before touching your piercing.
- Spray sterile saline solution on the front and back of the piercing twice a day.
- Gently pat it dry with clean, non-woven gauze or a paper towel. Cloth towels can hold bacteria and snag jewelry.
- Leave your jewelry in place. You don't need to twist or turn it.

What to Avoid While Healing
- Touching, twisting, or removing your jewelry
- Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and harsh soaps
- Ointments and creams, which can trap bacteria
- Pools, the ocean, hot tubs, and lakes for at least the first few weeks
- Sleeping on a new piercing (a travel pillow helps with ear piercings)
- Getting makeup, hairspray, or perfume on the area
- Snagging the jewelry on hair, headphones, masks, or clothing
What's Normal
During the first few weeks, it's common to notice mild redness, swelling, or tenderness; light itching; and a clear or whitish fluid that dries into a "crust" around the jewelry. Gently rinse any crust away with saline. Don't pick it off.
When to Contact Us or a Doctor
Contact us or see a healthcare provider if you notice:
- Swelling, redness, or pain that gets worse instead of better
- Thick yellow or green discharge
- Heat or red streaks spreading from the piercing
- Fever or feeling unwell
Don't remove your jewelry if you think the piercing is infected. Leaving it in lets it drain while you get advice.
Changing Your Jewelry
Wait until your piercing is fully healed. When you're ready, stop by Lenozella and we'll help you switch to a new stud, hoop, or charm safely.
